If you have pre-school children, they’ll love to visit Balamory – aka Tobermory on the Isle of Mull – the setting for the BBC’s popular and award-winning children’s series.
The colourful port of Tobermory, Mull’s capital, is in the north of the island, about 45 miles away from Traigh Mhor holiday cottage. The town was the primary exterior location for the fictional show, of which 254 episodes were made between 2002-2005, and which is still aired on the CBeebies channel and on CBeebies on BBC One and Two.
The houses featured in the programme, with the exception of Archie the Inventor’s pink castle (which is in North Berwick), are all in the town. Although many have since changed colour!
There are plenty of souvenirs on offer for tiny TV fans.
