Autumn pictures from the Isle of Mull to whet your appetite for an off-season visit.
The light is always special in Scotland but can be spellbinding in Autumn. The sun is lower in the sky and produces dramatic contrasts between light and dark. A visit at this time of year risks some rain and gales, but on a good day, the views are the clearest of all, with none of the haze you can get in summer. After rainfall, burns are in full spate – molten silver with a peaty stain.
Look at most of the best professional photographs of Scotland – nearly all are taken in Autumn. Our own photos below give a flavour of what to expect. Click on the thumbnails to see the full image.
